In 2011, Chungnam plans to invest six billion won to provide domestic and international tourists with more leisure services in the forests including five billion won to reinforce the existing nine recreational forest facilities and one billion won to create a place for ecological experiences and play activities in the forests. It will also enlarge auxiliary facilities for camping, rest rooms, cooking, and showering so that trekkers will experience no inconvenience at all at its trails and recreational forests.

Growing Demands for Recreational Forests
The rapidly growing demands for recreational forests among domestic and international tourists in recent years have increased demands for diverse infrastructure for camping, forest experience, forest education, and ecological activities. Responding to those demands, Chungnam plans to revamp the forests, recreational forests, and trails in an active manner and provide tourists with a happy mountain trip and nice rest in the forests.
There are 11 natural recreational forests in Chungnam. Statistics show that 1.60 million tourists visited them in 2010, a 35% increase from 1.19 million in 2005 with an increase every year.
Tourists used to take advantage of the rest features of forests in the past. Today they are increasingly interested in reinforcing their immunity against chronic and environmental diseases by utilizing the diverse beneficial environment elements of forests. Thus various recreational forests are designed based on forest aromatic baths for health and treatment.

Trails along the Forest
Chungnam has run full-scale “trails you want to take along the forests” based on the systematic management of forest ecosystems. The combined length of 368 trails connecting a total of 162 celebrated mountains including Mt. Gyeryong, Chilgap, and Daedun reaches 1,196 kilometers. Chungnam has invested a large portion of its budget in expanding its trail infrastructure including revamping the trails in the urban life zones, creating small-size trails, and making forest lanes where tourists can enjoy the ocean scenery while taking a walk in the forests along the West Coast. Thanks to those efforts, mountaineers will enjoy a fun, comfortable, and beautiful mountain trip in Chungnam.

Website of Chungnam's Top 100 Mountains
Responding to the recent explosion of trekking demands, Chungnam built “Website of Chungnam's Top 100 Mountains”, designed to help promote the activation of its tourism in addition to the regional infrastructure of trekking tourism.
The website provides trekking information (trekking courses, points of mountain trips, landscape, and overall conditions), diverse pieces of local information about the tourist attractions in the vicinity, model restaurants, accommodation, and prestigious local specialty products in addition to the bulletin board where users share their experiences after using the service as well as trekking information.
Chungnam's Top 100 Mountains include the ones that are well-known including Mt. Daedun (Nonsan and Geumsan) and Mt. Gyeryong (Gongju and Gyeryong) along with others that are celebrated local mountains with less fame including Mt. Dogo (Asan) and Mt. Geumo (Yesan) in nooks and crannies within the province.
