Chungchengnam-do
implements the ‘More Happy Housing (Chungnam Kkumbichae)’ Program that offers a
full waiver of rent upon the birth of two children.
Soon-to-be
newlyweds and young adults in Chungnam province are eligible.
Chungnam
will supply 1,015 units by constructing 915 units, including units of the
Kkumbichae Project, and purchasing 100 additional units.
Move-in
for the Asan Baebang Wolcheon District, the first construction project of the
Kkumbichae Program, is slated for July.
Chungnam
Kkumbichae is the housing policy of Chungcheongnam-do to overcome low fertility
by fostering an environment to promote marriage and childbirth.
The
provincial government will drastically reduce the burden on the residents, and
increase residential space, so that young adults can reside comfortably after
marriage and childbirth.
The
security deposit and monthly rents will be KRW 30 million and 90,000,
respectively, for a unit of 36㎡ unit(15 pyeong); KRW
40 million and KRW 110,000 for a 44㎡ unit (20 pyeong); and KRW 50 million and KRW 150,000 for a 59㎡
unit (25 pyeong).
With
a security deposit of KRW 50 million and monthly rent of KRW 150,000, one can
live in a new apartment with three rooms and a living room (for 59㎡).
In
particular, after the first child is born, couples will receive a 50% reduction
of monthly rent, and when the second child is born, the monthly rent will be
fully waived.
The
rent period is initially six years and can be extended to 10 years depending on
childbirth.
The
Chungnam Kkumbichae program has attracted worldwide media attention, especially
from China and Japan, as it offers a monthly rent reduction after childbirth.
Though
it is a public rental apartment, it offers a pleasant residential quality
environment with convenient transportation.
Residential
space is expanded to ensure a comfortable child-rearing environment. Eco-friendly
materials were used, and noise between floors is prevented using new engineering
technology for floor shock absorption.
Recently
the province announced ‘Chungnam More Happy Housing 2.0’ Plan.
Beginning
with the initial construction of 100 units in Sangok-ri, Geumsan-eup, the
province will supply 4,000 apartments for residents of the cities and counties by
2026.
Chungnam
Happy Housing 2.0 will offer housing units with wider residential space and
essential home appliances, such as air-conditioners.
